Best Boutique Hotels in San Francisco: Hotel Kabuki
I have always loved boutique hotels and luckily I’ve found a couple in San Francisco that have made each stay so memorable. There are many different areas of the city to stay in and I have managed to stay in almost all of them.
I’ve stayed everywhere from the cutest Airbnb in Castro, to a historic bed and breakfast near Laurel Heights, and your average, large chain hotel in the Financial District. So when I needed to meet my little sister Lauren for a girls weekend (see more here and here), I knew I needed to find somewhere affordable but fun.
Luckily I happened upon Hotel Kabuki, a Joie de Vivre boutique hotel in Japantown. This hotel has a fun, retro vibe with sumo wrestler wall paper in the closet, vinyl record album decor in the lobby, a reflection koi pond, and a hipster bar that is loved by guests and locals alike.
The location is amazing, too, providing convenient access to great restaurants (like Michelin star rated State Bird Provisions and milk tea bar Boba Guys), as well as, walking distance to the ever popular Alamo Square (home of the Painted Ladies), fashion central Hayes Valley, and gorgeous City Hall. Next door to the hotel, check out the beautiful Peace Pagoda, shown below.
Business travelers loved working in the funky hotel lounge filled with natural light and cozy corners. We loved the comfortable amenities, price point, and the proximity to great carousel sushi. Plus, your pets are welcome here! Don’t you just love San Francisco?
