A Fall Weekend in Wine Country
I have always wanted to spend a fall weekend in wine country. I love how the rolling vineyards become shaded in deep reds and golds, promising a fruitful harvest for making all of my favorite wines. In mid November we were lucky to travel to Northern California for a friend’s wedding in the beautiful small town of Healdsburg. While the smoke from the Camp Fire wildfires (learn where to donate here) followed us from SFO to Healdsburg, I found no less beauty in my favorite region in the country.
We stayed in the luxurious Hotel Healdsburg with our friends and had the most fun weekend. Healdsburg is such a cute, walkable town with plenty of great restaurants (try the pizza place Pizzando next door), tasting rooms like La Crema, and endless fun shops.
While out exploring one day I found an amazing antiques store that had endless treasures. I took a home an old Argus C3 film camera, as seen in one of my favorite films, A Philadelphia Story. It’s been so fun learning to shoot film and I can’t wait to see how my first roll turns out— lots of blurry photos to be sure, ha!
On our way out of town on the last day, we stopped by a large vineyard to explore. I wore the newest addition to my out of control Gal Meets Glam dress collection. This navy sweater dress is so incredibly comfortable. I paired it with matching navy tights and my favorite Dolce Vita booties making it the perfect travel outfit for exploring the vineyards and the long journey back home. The dress also comes in a beautiful mauve pink color and I would recommend sizing down since it is fairly stretchy.
While walking the endless rows in the vineyard, a large deer rushed out through the clearing at an alarming speed. Quickly I called to Dan to tell him what I had seen and suddenly another large buck rushed by as well. Clearly these two were just as excited as I was to find some large juicy grape bunches left unharvested on the vines. One day I hope to come back and experience the annual harvest grape stomping in early fall!
