Girls Trip to Napa Valley
I met my little sister Lauren in San Francisco for a quick girls trip over Memorial Day weekend. It was her first time to the city, but she was eager to experience the beautiful Napa Valley, as well.
Normally, I would recommend hiring a driver and staying over night in Napa or Healdsburg, but since I've already been to Napa I offered to sober drive so we could just make it a day trip and get back to the city. In return, she took photos for me, which hilariously got more crooked as the day went on.

We were able to fit in three different wine tastings which is pretty impressive since we didn't arrive in Napa until almost noon. Our first stop was Frog's Leap Winery which is best known for its big red barn house. It's a great stop to wander the farmhouse setting and vineyards with a glass of wine in hand. For a formal tasting on the patio, be sure to make a reservation.
Our next stop Silver Oak, was conveniently just down the road. This was unlike any other tasting I had been to. The pours were extremely generous, which explains why Lauren's friend insisted we go here. The grounds were less picturesque though, so we moved on to our next stop pretty quickly.
For our last stop, we went to Domaine Carneros which is known for their sparkling wines and gorgeous views of the valley. We split a cheese plate and tasting of their bubbly on the patio while watching the sun cast a golden glow over the vineyard.
If you are planning a Napa weekend, I highly recommend staying overnight and checking out the downtown scene in either Napa or Healdsburg. You'll be sure to find great restaurants, live music, and shopping. Some other great wineries that I would recommend for your visit include Cliff Lede, Sequoia Grove, Alpha Omega, and Chateau Montelena.
