Tegenungan Waterfall in Bali
Tegenungan Waterfall is one of the most instafamous spots in all of Bali. With that fame, comes a hoard of visitors who would also like to become instafamous... myself included. The waterfall is beautiful, with intense water flow and you can actually swim in the river and get as close as you dare to the actual falls.
Once we arrived in the parking lot, it was clear that this is no back roads, jungle secret. Immediately, we were greeted by an entire street of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. Forgot your crochet, cut out bathing suit or your trendy Vietnamese style straw hat? You can buy that here.
At the end of tourist row, is a short but steep set of stairs that take you down to the base of the falls. Here we found many people swimming in the river and beneath the falls. There was also a trail to the top of the falls.
Since the waterfall was on our way from Villa Campuhan (see here and here) to Ubud, I knew it was worth the stop. We didn't stay long, but I imagine that this place is idyllic early in the morning before the crowds get there.
If you travel to Bali, this is an easy visit from Ubud, but if your looking for something more private you'll need to travel to north Bali for some of the most breathtaking falls I have ever seen - and can not wait to share!
